1999-2002 – Spent three years pursuing a teaching degree just to change my mind my senior year and switched to a BA in English.
2003-2004 – Reluctantly went back to school to get my Masters in Curriculum & Instruction. My parents insisted that I go back and get a degree that I could turn into a job instead of wishfully thinking an English degree would turn me in to an author.
2005-2006 – Got my first teaching job at a middle school with seventh graders. I was still not sure teaching was what I was supposed to do.
2007-2011 – Started teaching high school English (as well as creative writing, poetry, mythology, yearbook, speech & drama electives). Finally realized that teaching was what I was supposed to do.
2011-2017 – Homeschooled my daughter until she decided to that she wanted to try out public school.
2017-present – Was tricked into teaching special education, fell in love with it, got a 2nd Masters degree in it, and continue to learn everything I can to help my students be successful.
